Heritage Bag Company, the largest plastic bag manufacturer in North America, was owned by Carl Allen Jr. until its sale to Novolex in 2018 for just under $500 million. As Creative Director at Heritage/Novolex for nearly 20 years, I had the privilege of leading the Heritage Communications Design Group. My senior Art Director and Multimedia Developer, Steven Arguello, remains one of the most talented and versatile designers I have ever worked with. The collage shown here reflects one of our year-long campaigns targeting both distributors and end-users. These campaigns set a new bar within the industry, consistently recognized as some of the most innovative and impactful marketing efforts in the sector. Carl Allen was particularly fond of having these collages printed at large scale and displayed in our “brainstorming room” as a visual rubric to focus our marketing efforts. Each year, our team delivered a comprehensive, fully refreshed campaign — a testament to Carl’s aggressive and ambitious marketing approach. Our deliverables included:

• New Humorous “ice breaker” videos for Carl’s speaking engagements (see my video section)
• New signage and sales literature
• Refreshed sales and training app

Helping Entrepreneurs – Developing this campaign was a rewarding experience – helping Jennifer build her campaign from a humble beginning at our first meeting in her living room. Jennifer proved to be an exceptional leader and savvy business woman. Her products gained widespread recognition, appearing in leading women’s magazines, and she ultimately sold the company for a significant return while continuing on as COO.
